On September 24, 2021, took place the Public Presentation of FUSE VALLEY, the future technological valley that will be born in Matosinhos, in the next four years.
In a ceremony attended by the Minister of State, Economy and Digital Transition, Pedro Siza Vieira, the Mayor of Matosinhos, Luísa Salgueiro, and the Danish architect of the project, CEO & Founding Partner of BIG, Bjarke Ingels, the details were shown of the new futuristic complex based on three fundamental pillars: innovation, sustainability, and well-being.
This project translates the new work concepts into a physical space designed to privilege flexibility, but also the community.
In addition to Farfetch’s Headquarters, this development will include 62,800 m2 of offices available to host other companies, a hotel with 75 rooms and 42 apartments, 5,000 m2 of spaces for commerce, and support amenities for the development, promoted by Castro Group.
According to Paulo Castro, CEO of CASTRO GROUP:
José Neves, CEO and Chairman of Farfetch stated during the Public Presentation of FUSE VALLEY:
The clear investment in Sustainability is revealed, from the outset, in the choice of architect Bjarke Ingels, who incorporates in his portfolio, numerous works that stand out for their concern in designing buildings that, since their conception, are based on the climate of the place where they will be built, in a hedonistic view of sustainability. The ambition goes further and FUSE VALLEY presents itself as a candidate to be the most sustainable building in Portugal and one of the most sustainable in Europe.
FUSE VALLEY will be another example of this vision for the artificial valley created by the buildings, promoting a reduction in the environmental impact from their construction to their future use.
In addition to the sustainability principles applied to construction, FUSE VALLEY will also be oriented towards promoting sustainable mobility, with a strong focus on spaces for charging electric vehicles and stations with bicycles and electric scooters for common use within the perimeter of the valley. The connection with the main public transport connections will also be ensured with daily shuttles that connect the development to the local network.
The construction of FUSE VALLEY represents a milestone and a significant investment not only in the business but also in the Matosinhos region. It is an investment in the development of the activity of the companies involved, but also an important contribution to the economic, social, and tourist development of the region and the country.
